It's quite a journey to set up your own website from scratch, but this is testament to the fact that it can be done. I have a few computer skills, not all that many, but I'm reasonably good at following instructions. If you are too, I'd encourage you to give it a go!

The set-up of the web server was managed with instructions (and a bit of help) from Derek Sivers who I heard interviewed by Tim Ferris. The text I'm using to teach myself more is HTML, CSS & JavaScript Web Publishing by Lemay, Colburn, and Kyrnin, 7th Ed. 2016. I got my copy from the public library, of which I'm a huge fan.

And here's an ordered list of things I need to do for this web project:

  1. Understand the Terminal application
  2. Get a basic understanding of UNIX commands
  3. Learn some HTML and CSS
  4. Learn some Javascript and maybe Python
  5. Remember basic SQL commands
  6. Learn SQLite
